In addition, there is a possibility that the grinding stone is not accurately adjusted in relation to the mold.
In addition, the grinding stone is not suitable for formation of a groove having a certain depth and width. We created an arthroscopic incision in the area of the patellar ligament insertion for 20 matched pairs of fresh, unembalmed human patellae. These patellae were repaired with a standard 2-strand repair technique using a continuous suture. Then, each specimen was cut transversely at the level of the patellar ligament insertion and the bone-tendon-bone interface was examined arthroscopically for evidence of a healed scar. Scar formation was noted in 6 of 20 pairs (30%).
